Title: Who’s Got Talent?

What? – What skills – exactly - are actually needed? Does “experienced in ‘x’” cover it?

Where are these people?

How do you identify them? Attract them to you your company? (Attract them to NZ?)

The common wisdom that ‘NZ is great at innovation but does not commercialise well’ is heard so often that it is almost a mantra. NZ has some excellent people – both imported and home grown – who make a significant contribution to the bioeconomy by developing and commercialising the initial research, but we need more. Perhaps we also need to better understand what skills best suit a particular company at a particular stage of development.

Guest speaker, Jo Baxter, from Kerridge and Partners , is committed to developing NZ’s leadership landscape - particularly in the science and technology sectors. Her background in biochemistry and experience both in NZ and internationally in the bioindustry gives her excellent insight when advising CEOs and boards on executive appointments. Jo has worked with many bioscience companies and organisations. Her recent engagements include sourcing senior management for both NZBIO and the Ministry for Science and Innovation.

Please join us for Jo’s challenging presentation on building and retaining the leadership needed to build New Zealand’s bioeconomy.

All welcome. RSVPs to Margot Bethell for organizational purposes would be greatly appreciated. Please email or phone (09) 373 7599 ext 89625 or 0274 305 758.
