Associate Professor Kerry Loomes
Chair Bioscience Enterprise Programme
Kerry graduated with a PhD from Massey University and joined the University of Auckland in 1991 following a postdoctoral fellowship at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. Kerry is based within the Institute for Innovation in Biotechnology (IIB) and is an active biomedical researcher in the areas of metabolic disease and natural products. His research is highly collaborative comprising both basic and applied aspects with successful interactions with major Pharma and New Zealand-based Companies. Kerry spent a period of 8 years within the biopharmaceutical Industry (Protemix Corporation) in the area of drug discovery and development of therapeutic candidates for human disease. He is director of the undergraduate Bachelor of Technology biotechnology specialisation at the University of Auckland and Secretary for the New Zealand Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NZSBMB). He is also an Associate Investigator of the Maurice Wilkins Centre of Molecular Biodiscovery. Kerry was also involved in the early development of the Bioscience Enterprise programme that has led to the current framework. Dr Mia Julig
Originally a student of veterinary medicine at the
Swedish University of Agriculture, Dr Mia Jullig completed a PhD in Medical and
Physiological Chemistry at the same institution in 2001. She joined the
University of Auckland in 2002, where she has since held a number of roles,
including serving as a postdoctoral fellow at the Faculty of Medical and Health
Sciences (2002-2005) and the School of Biological Sciences (2005-2014). She
then started with the Auckland Science Analytical Service dealing with data analysis
and scientific illustration on a client basis (2015-2016), before becoming
involved with the Institute for Innovation in Biotechnology’s BioScience
Enterprise programme in 2017. There, she acts as the programme coordinator and
runs the paper ‘Frontiers of Bioscience’, which aims to engage the students in
the process of applying all their newly gained business knowledge to scientific
discoveries. Dr Jullig also maintains a role in scientific illustration through
her own company ‘Paper Dog Ltd’.
Dr Charlotta Windahl (MSc Chem. Eng, PhD Industrial Management (Sweden))
Having been part of the Business School and the University of Auckland since 2007, Charlotta joined the Department of Marketing in January 2010. Before starting her academic career, she worked as a consultant for the Swedish Trade Council in Paris – dealing with Swedish companies that wanted to establish or develop their business in France.
Charlotta’s research interests are product and service innovation, open innovation, knowledge integration and inter-firm relationships and include issues related to corporate strategy and sustainability.
Charlotta’s teaching portfolio includes Marketing Strategy, Services Marketing and Management and the Master in Bioscience enterprise programme. Previously she has been course coordinating Innovation and New Product Development (ENGGEN 405/ MGMT 305) and also involved in teaching Technology Management (MECHENG 451). In Sweden, Charlotta lectured at undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as at Executive courses, within the areas of Industrial Management and Organisation, Project Management, Leadership Studies and Team Work.
Charlotta enjoys sailing, music, travelling and her husband’s cooking. Currently most of her spare time is dedicated to spending time with her family and friends and more specifically her 2.5 year old son and 8 months old daughter.
Dr Lisa Callagher
PhD in Management, Cert. in University Teaching and Learning, MCom in Management and Employment Relations and BA in Employment Relations and Anthropology.
Lecturer | Management and International BusinessLisa joined the University of Auckland Business School faculty full-time in 2002 as a Senior Tutor in the (then new) Bachelor of Business and Innovation and Tamaki teaching introductory Business and Management courses. With her colleagues Maria Avdjieva and Lynne Mitchell, one focal area was embedding individual and organisational information literacy across the curriculum. Their achievements were recognised by the 2005 University of Auckland Innovation in Teaching award.
During 2007-2010 Lisa completed her PhD in Management under the supervision of Professor Kenneth Husted. Lisa's study was supported by a three-year research stipend funded by the Government Growth and Improvement Project (GIPI) to develop a biotechnology industry in Auckland, New Zealand.
At the beginning of 2012 Lisa took up a Lecturer position in the Management and International Department, contributing to the design and delivery the new Innovation and Entrepreneurship undergraduate major. Lisa also teaches and supervises in the areas of Research Commercialisation as part of the Master of Bioscience Enterprise.

Mr Robert Wilton

Robert (Bob) Wilton has been with the Accounting and Finance Department of The University since 1996 and for the three years to 2003 held the position of Head of Department. Prior to this he held positions in investment and merchant banking as well as finance positions with a number of New Zealand public and private companies. He is a past chairman of the New Zealand Venture Capital Association and has been involved in a number of initial public offerings in New Zealand. Bob is a director of a number of companies including Delegats Group Limited and Oyster Bay Marlborough Vineyards Limited and teaches in both the undergraduate and postgraduate diploma programmes.
Associate Professor Richard Brookes (BCA (Wellington), MSc (London))

His major research initiative is the Contemporary Marketing Practices (CMP) project with colleagues in New Zealand and internationally. He is closely associated with ESOMAR (The European Society for Opinion and Market Research), particularly with respect to research in global automotive marketing.
He has Chaired the Judging Panel for the NZ Marketing Association/Marketing Magazine Annual Marketing Awards (2004-2009) and the Judging Panel for the Market Research Society of New Zealand bi-annual Market Research Effectiveness Awards (2006, 2008, 2010). He has published widely in journals, books and conferences. Over the years he has been involved in the development and/or implementation of marketing strategies for various private and public sector organizations.
